Following her TODAY Show debut, actress turned singer-songwriter Leah Dowdy is quickly making her mark in the music industry. A familiar face on television prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, Leah was forced to put her acting career on hold due to an industry wide shutdown. Not to be defeated, she decided to dust off her Lisa Frank diary and revisit her passion for songwriting while quarantined with her family in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Constructing a home-studio in the closet of her childhood bedroom, Leah self-produced and released her first two singles “The Fool” and “Human” in the spring of 2020 while simultaneously completing a specialization in Music Business through Berklee College of Music online.
Leah's unexpected venture into music quickly generated excitement among listeners and audible buzz across social media, which soon caught the attention of producers at NBC, earning her a coveted musical guest spot as part of the "Tomorrow's Talent Today" series. Soon after her performance, Leah released her third single “Worthy” and first music video at the top of 2021.
In the future, she hopes to pen lyrics for industry icons across the globe, record an EP and maybe win a few GRAMMYs along the way.
